Mode of action
The active ingredient is absorbed by the above-ground parts of the plant and distributed throughout all organs, disrupting protein synthesis. Blocking photosynthesis and respiration in plants leads to their complete death, including the root system.
Characteristics and advantages
• New active ingredient in the form of potassium salt allows:
— to rapidly penetrate the plant and move throughout its body;
— to more effectively combat weeds compared to other glyphosates;
— to significantly reduce the application rate per hectare of sown area;
• Increased effectiveness against perennial weeds — sow thistle, birch, crabgrass, and goosegrass;
• Increased resistance of the product to rainwash.
Signs of herbicide action
First visible signs of herbicide action on annual weeds appear on day 3-4, and on perennials no less than day 7, as plant discoloration. Complete plant death occurs within 10-20 days after application, depending on weed growth stage and weather conditions.
Application recommendations
The product is applied using ground equipment by spraying actively growing weeds.
Weed growth stage. Maximum effectiveness of weed control is observed during the following periods:
• annual broadleaf weeds — 1… 2 true leaves;
• perennial broadleaf weeds — from stem emergence to flowering;
• annual grasses — 3-5 leaf stage when leaf length is not less than 5 cm;
• perennial grasses — when plant height is 15… 20 cm.
Working solution application rate
The working solution application rate is 250-300 L/ha.
Application on fields intended for sowing
During the pre-sowing period, the product is applied by spraying actively growing weeds. Application should be conducted at least 2 weeks before sowing the crop. Mechanical soil treatments must be avoided at least 7-10 days before and after application.
After harvesting the preceding crop, the product is applied after the emergence of weed populations. To effectively control perennial weeds, mechanical soil treatments are excluded for 2-2.5 weeks after application.
Application in gardens and vineyards
The product is applied in gardens and vineyards to control weeds during the vegetation period. The product is applied using ground spraying equipment, which prevents the working solution from contacting tree crowns or grapevines.
Weather conditions
Maximum effectiveness of the product is observed at an average daily temperature of +15...+20°C. Application of ARGUMENT FORTÉ 500SL at lower (below +12°C) or higher (above +25°C) air temperatures slows down the product's action on weeds, and in some cases may reduce its effectiveness.
Rainfall within 4 hours after application does not affect the product's effectiveness.
