A mid-season variety obtained at the Institute of Horticulture of the NAS of Belarus by crossing the Houghton and Confession varieties. Author: A.G. Voluznev. Since 1997, it has been included in the State Register of selection achievements of the Russian Federation allowed for use in the Central region.
The bush is medium-sized, spreading and dense. Average branching of the bush. Direction of branches is inclined. Shoots are thick, straight, light green with weak anthocyanin coloration at the top, glabrous, semi-spiny. Thorns are long, yellowish brown, of medium thickness, straight, single, rarely 2-3 branched, directed perpendicular to the shoot or slightly downward, located on the 3rd length of the shoot, starting from its base. Zero shoots are characterized by the presence of a small number of prickles in the lower internodes.
The leaf is medium-sized, dark green with slight sheen, glabrous, leathery, corrugated, the leaf blade is flat. Teeth on the edge of the leaf blade have "claws", bent inward. Three or five lobes. The middle lobe is slightly longer than the lateral ones, quite narrow, with a weakly pointed apex, the lateral edges are cut straight to the base. The angle between the veins of the lateral lobes is acute. Lateral lobes are narrow, widely spaced. The notch between the middle and lateral lobes is quite deep and wide, sharp. Basal lobes in most cases are weakly developed. The angle between the leaf blade and the petiole is right. Petioles are long and thin with weak pubescence located on the shoot at an angle of 45°C.
Flowers are medium-sized with slight anthocyanin coloration. Ovaries glabrous, unpainted. Inflorescence is two-flowered.
Berries of medium size (average weight 3-3.5 g; up to 4.0 g in young bushes), one-dimensional, elongated oval, glabrous, orange-red, when fully ripe - brick red. Pedicel is of medium length, yellow with green at the base. Calyx is closed. Skin is dense, heavily veined and with high branching of veins; vein color is lighter than the main color. Pulp is tender and juicy, contains many seeds. Berries have a sour-sweet taste, pronounced sweetness, tasting score of 4.0 points. Chemical composition of berries: soluble dry matter — 14.5%, titratable acidity — 2.2%, sum of sugars — 9.5%, ascorbic acid — 36.5 mg/100 g, pectin substances -0.89%, phenolic compounds — 330.5 mg/100 g. Purpose is universal.
The variety is winter-hardy, self-fertile and high-yielding, 9-14 t/ha; in epiphytotic years it is moderately affected by powdery mildew, septoria and anthracnose. The variety easily takes root when propagated.
Advantages of the variety: winter hardiness, high yield, original color of fruits, good taste, universal use, well multiplied by various methods of vegetative propagation.
Disadvantages of the variety: prickliness of shoots, insufficient resistance to diseases, excessive number of root suckers that thicken the bush.
