GROZNYI EXPERT, v.d.g.
Systemic herbicide, specifically designed for combating annual and perennial weeds in sunflower crops after emergence of crop plants
Active ingredient: tribenuron-methyl, 750 g/kg
Manufacturer: Peters & Burg Ltd, Hungary
Formulation: water-dispersible granules
Packaging unit: 500 g
Mode of action
The herbicide Groznii EXPERT is applied to sunflower crops that are resistant to the action of this herbicide.
The active ingredient penetrates the plant through its above-ground parts, moves to the apical meristems of the plant, where it blocks cell division processes in sensitive weeds. As a result, weed growth stops within a few hours after application, and the weeds subsequently die.
Characteristics and advantages
• ability to control annual and perennial broadleaf weeds during the period after emergence of sunflower seedlings;
• single tool for eliminating sowthistle in sunflower crops;
• wide application window — from 2 to 6 leaves of crop plants;
• flexible application rates and regimens in accordance with field weediness and weed density.
First visible signs
First visible signs of herbicide action on weeds appear 7–10 days after application, depending on weed species and weather conditions. Complete weed death occurs within 2–2.5 weeks after application.
Reaction of some weeds to the action of the herbicide Groznii Expert®
Sensitive weeds
Ambrosia arborescens (up to 2 true leaves); Sowthistle, species; Geranium, species; Common groundsel; Field mustard; Black mustard; Chickweed; Yarrow, species; Common bean; Dwarf ragwort; Common ragwort; Common cornflower; Common chickweed; White mustard (up to 4 true leaves); White clover; Wild lettuce (compass); White dead-nettle (up to 4 true leaves); Common burdock; Common field bindweed; Wild radish; Rapeseed, oilseed; Field pennycress; Field pennycress; Daisy, species; Dandelion; Sunflower; Common groundsel; Common ragwort; Field pennyroyal; Field bindweed; Common chickweed; Cornflower, species; Field violet; Field spurge; Sorrel, species; Common chickweed.

Resistant weeds
Field bindweed; Veronica persica; annual and perennial grasses.
Recommendations for use
The product is applied using ground sprayers only to sunflower hybrids resistant to the action of this herbicide.
The herbicide Groznii EXPERT should be applied with surfactant TALENT at a rate of 0.1 L/100 L of working solution.
Crop plant growth stage
The product is applied during the period from 2 to 8 true leaves of crop plants. The optimal application time is when weed seedlings are abundant, which usually occurs during the 4–6 leaf stage of sunflower.
Not all sunflower hybrids exhibit the same resistance to the herbicide Groznii EXPERT. Depending on the type of resistance of the hybrid, different application regimens and rates of the herbicide Groznii EXPERT may be required.
Weed growth stage
The herbicide's effectiveness will be observed when weeds are in the following stages at the time of spraying:
• Ambrosia arborescens — up to 2 true leaves;
• White clover — up to 4 true leaves;
• Field bindweed — up to 3–4 rings;
• other annual broadleaf weeds — up to 4–6 true leaves;
• perennial broadleaf weeds — rosette stage — beginning of stem growth.
Weather conditions
Air temperature of +12… +22°C during application is optimal. Lower (below +12°C) or higher (above +25°C) air temperatures slow down the herbicide’s action on weeds, and in some cases may reduce its effectiveness.
Rain within 3 hours after application may reduce herbicide effectiveness.
Working solution application rate
The working solution application rate is 200–300 L/ha. In dense plant stands, the working solution application rate should be at least 300 L/ha to ensure complete and even wetting of the entire weed surface with the working solution.
Crop rotation recommendations
If sunflower crop is killed where Groznii EXPERT herbicide was applied, only cereal grasses or sunflower resistant to the action of this herbicide may be sown within 60 days.
Precautions
To effectively kill weeds, mechanical soil treatments must be avoided for 2 weeks before and after application of the product.
Application is not recommended if crop plants are under stress due to adverse weather conditions (drought, heat), disease or pest infestation, or other physical damage to sunflower.
Compatibility with other products
Do not apply Groznii EXPERT herbicide in mixtures with grass herbicides. If necessary, apply grass herbicides 7 days before or after Groznii EXPERT herbicide application.
