Vostok

Cucumber variety Vostok is a medium-early, bee-pollinated variety intended for salad and canning purposes. The plant is climbing, indeterminate, with a main stem length of about 96 cm and a medium-branched type. Leaves are green, wrinkled, with slightly lobed blades, medium or dark green in color. Flowering is female-type, with 1-2 female flowers per node, promoting uniform early yield formation. Fruits of the Vostok variety have spindle or cylindrical shape, 8-9 cm long and 3.6-3.9 cm in diameter. The zucchini have a large-bump surface with sparse bumps and clearly visible green stripes covering up to half the fruit length. The weight of one zucchini varies from 54 to 82 grams. Fruit hairs are light-brown or black, of medium density. Fresh cucumbers have excellent taste, making them appealing for fresh consumption and canning. Variety Vostok is valued for its high yield of marketable produce and good fruit quality, which do not yellow easily. It is resistant to such diseases as cladosporeiosis, powdery mildew (POM), cucumber mosaic (CM), and tolerant to false powdery mildew (FPM). Fruit set begins on the 48th day after emergence, and marketable yield reaches 9.3 kg per square meter. The variety is recommended for cultivation in spring plastic unheated greenhouses and private households.
