Cucumber Demarrage

Consistent Yields with 'Demarage'

When selecting cucumber varieties for professional cultivation, the priorities are clear: predictable results and minimal disease-related issues. The 'Demarage' hybrid from Rijk Zwaan addresses these needs through its generative growth habit. The plant does not waste energy on excessive vegetative mass but directs its resources precisely toward forming high-quality fruit. This significantly simplifies routine maintenance: less time is spent on pruning and shaping, and the plant maintains its load balance even during periods of temperature stress.

Field and Greenhouse Performance

Versatility is a core strength of this hybrid. 'Demarage' performs equally well in controlled-environment glass greenhouses and open field conditions. With a fruit length of 20–25 cm, it is perfectly suited for the fresh market, where consumers value classic appearance and consistent quality.

Robust Disease Resistance

Crop protection is a farmer's primary concern. By working with this variety, you gain a built-in defense against critical pathogens:

• Cladosporium (Scab) — one of the most persistent threats, effectively managed here at the genetic level.
• Powdery Mildew — high resistance allows for a reduction in fungicide applications, lowering overall production costs.
• Cucumber Mosaic Virus — a critical safeguard for extended harvest seasons.

Its high stress tolerance allows the plants to recover quickly from temperature fluctuations, which is particularly vital for open-field cultivation. Choosing 'Demarage' means banking on the proven reliability of Dutch breeding from Rijk Zwaan, where seed quality ensures uniform germination and predictable output for the market.
