F1 Cadet
A shade-tolerant parthenocarpic cucumber hybrid. Develops well even at early planting times (beginning of January in the 3rd light zone). Plants are vigorous, medium-branched, with above-average branching ability. The root system is strong and develops well both in soil and in limited substrate volume, quickly recovering from stressful conditions. Flowering type is female. One to two fruits form in each leaf axil. With increased light intensity, the number of fruits per node increases to 3. Hybrid F1 Cadet is medium-maturing, taking 55-60 days from germination to fruiting. The fruit is ribbed, 19-21 cm long, 3.5-4.5 cm in diameter, and weighs 200-220 grams. The ridges are of medium size and are closely spaced. The fruit shape is cylindrical with a slight taper at the base, and the color is dark green with lighter stripes. The hybrid is resistant to root rot and tolerant to ascochytosis. F1 Cadet should be trained using the classic scheme for winter-spring cucumber parthenocarpic hybrids (blinding the lower 8-12 nodes and leaving lateral shoots).
