Early-maturing parthenocarpic hybrid of female flowering type for cultivation in spring-summer and summer-autumn rotations in glass and plastic greenhouses. Proven to be the best cucumber hybrid for the second crop.
Hybrid F1 Courage is early-maturing (36-44 days from mass emergence of seedlings to the beginning of fruiting), female flowering type, with "bouquet" arrangement of fruits. Plants are medium-height with medium branching. 2-5 fruits form in each node, allowing up to 20-30 fruits to ripen simultaneously on one plant.
Main stem zucchini is 13-16 cm long, on lateral branches — 12-15 cm, diameter 3.5-4.0 cm, weight 120-140 g, dark green, ribbed, white-tipped, universal use. Fruits maintain market quality for up to 10 days under uncontrolled conditions. Hybrid F1 Courage production successfully competes with products from open fields and plastic greenhouses.
Hybrid F1 Courage has high resistance to complex diseases (true and false powdery mildew, root rots).
For summer-autumn rotation in the third light zone, hybrid F1 Courage is sown in the first or early second decade of June. The best time for transplanting seedlings is the first decade of July, with the latest possible date being the third decade of July. Delaying transplanting significantly reduces yield. Each week of delay in planting results in yield losses exceeding 1 kg/m2, due to reduced light levels in autumn months. Recommended planting density is typically 2.0-2.2 plants/m2.
Fruit production in hybrid F1 Courage usually begins 25-30 days after transplanting seedlings. First fruits should be harvested early, at 10-11 cm length. Note that the bouquet-type fruit arrangement in this hybrid means that it is not advisable to remove fruits from the plant regularly, as this encourages more fruit set and results in higher yields.
