Maize LJN 2456

French Breeding for Reliable Yields

The maize hybrid LJN 2456 from Mas Seeds represents a technological solution for farmers focusing on stability within a mid-early maturation cycle. Originated by the French breeding center headed by Joel Meunier, this hybrid ensures strict quality control of genetic material and high adaptability to European climatic conditions.

Key Advantages and Biology

The primary feature of LJN 2456 is its flint kernel type. This ensures high density and excellent test weight, making it a preferred choice for grain processing and feed production. The yellow-orange color indicates a high carotenoid content, which significantly enhances the nutritional value of the grain.

• Phytosanitary Profile: The hybrid demonstrates robust resistance to key pathogens, including common smut, Fusarium, and Helminthosporium. This is critical for minimizing losses during high-humidity seasons when fungal risks escalate.
• Agronomic Versatility: The mid-early maturity allows for precise planning of the sowing campaign, enabling early field clearing for winter crops while maintaining a high yield potential.

Who is this hybrid for?

LJN 2456 is targeted at professional growers who prioritize 'French quality' and are seeking a balance between maturation speed and disease resistance. While the flint kernel type requires careful attention to drying technology, it pays off with the premium quality of the final product. The hybrid is optimal for temperate climate zones where it is essential to harvest before extreme weather events occur, without compromising crop health.
