ES Zizou is a high-yielding hybrid with a FAO number of 210, characterized by rapid water recovery and high productivity stability. The plant reaches a height of approximately 260-282 cm, with ear attachment at 105-120 cm. The ear has a conical-cylindrical shape, 22-25 cm long and 5-5.5 cm in diameter, containing 16 rows of kernels, each with 26 kernels. The kernels have a dent type with a warm yellow hue and a 1000-kernel weight of about 290 g. The hybrid features a strong root system, excellent disease resistance, lodging resistance, and good stress tolerance, including cold and drought resistance, ensuring high plasticity and adaptability to various growing conditions.
ES Zizou is suitable for cultivation in northern and western regions of Ukraine, including Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Poltava, Ternopil, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Rivne regions. Recommended planting density varies by zone: 70-75 thousand plants per hectare in areas with insufficient moisture and 85-95 thousand plants per hectare in areas with sufficient moisture. The hybrid demonstrates high yield potential under balanced mineral nutrition, optimal irrigation, and early planting. Average yields in these regions reach 81-116 c/ha, confirming its high potential.
ES Zizou is primarily intended for grain use, though silage processing is also possible. Due to its silica-type kernels with Tropical Dent genetics, the hybrid provides high initial plant energy. The red stalk of the ear is a distinctive feature of the variety. ES Zizou tolerates high planting density well and exhibits resistance to Helminthosporium, making it a reliable choice for farmers seeking stable and high yields under various climatic conditions.
