GC 79 MV is a medium-early hybrid maize of the grain type with a vegetation period of approximately 110-124 days and a FAO index of 290. Plants reach a height of 250-300 cm, have a red stalk and ear positioned at a height of 85-95 cm. The ears are cylindrical, 22-27 cm long, with 14-18 rows of creamy-yellow kernels densely packed. The 1000-kernel weight is 290-320 g, indicating the hybrid's large kernel size.
The hybrid is characterized by high yield: in production conditions it reaches 7.5-10 t/ha, and on variety trial plots — up to 12.2 t/ha. The plant exhibits high resistance to pests and diseases, particularly to helminthosporiosis, and demonstrates rapid water shedding, which contributes to the quality maturation of grain. GC 79 MV does not lodge and is well-adapted to cultivation in various climatic zones, including steppe, forest-steppe, and polye.
To achieve maximum yield, it is recommended to grow this hybrid on light, well-fertilized soils with moderate irrigation, especially during flowering and pollination. Seeds have high germination (about 98%), and the optimal planting density is 50-55 thousand plants per hectare. The hybrid is suitable for both grain production and silage, providing silage mass up to 50-65 t/ha. Due to its characteristics, GC 79 MV is a reliable choice for intensive farming with good frost resistance and early maturity.
