Dubkovsky garlic is a winter hardneck variety bred at the All-Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Breeding and Seed Production. It is intended for cultivation in open ground in various regions, including Ukraine, Moldova, Russia, and Belarus. The vegetative period is from 98 to 114 days, corresponding to a medium-maturing period. The plant leaves are bright green with a weak waxy coating, reaching a length of about 34 cm and a width of 1.6 cm, while the stem height can reach 50-70 cm.
The Dubkovsky variety bulbs are round-flat, medium to medium-large size, weighing about 29-32 g. They have a creamy-violet color with pale violet shades and consist of 10-12 cloves of simple structure, each weighing from 2 to 5 g. The outer skins are present in a quantity of up to three pieces. The variety is distinguished by its sharp taste and high commercial qualities, making it universal for use in cooking, as well as for fresh consumption and canning.
The main advantage of Dubkovsky is its ability to reproduce by air bulbs, which facilitates mechanized harvesting and planting. Planting is done with cloves, air seeds, or single-clove bulbs at a planting depth of 4-6 cm and a scheme of 2x10 cm. Successful cultivation requires timely care, including watering and weeding. The dry matter content in the plant is 38.6%, nitrogen-containing substances — 40.2%, and amino acids and proteins — 8.2 mg%, which indicates the high quality and nutritional value of this variety.
