MARS MS

MARS MS is a mid-season red cabbage variety that matures 105-110 days after full emergence. The heads have an oval-flat shape, dark purple color, and medium density, with a mass ranging from 1.3 to 1.5 kg. This variety is distinguished by its high yield and resistance to cracking, making it particularly valuable for use in winter salads and long-term storage. The cabbage has excellent taste qualities and is rich in vitamins and mineral salts, which increases its nutritional value.

For successful cultivation of MARS MS, it is recommended to choose fertile, well-structured, and drained soils with a neutral pH. The variety prefers well-lit areas and does not tolerate shading. The best predecessors for planting are legumes, pumpkins, potatoes, carrots, and onions. Usually, cabbage is grown via seedlings, which are transplanted at 50-55 days of age with an interval of 60x60 cm into moist and fertilized soil. The optimal temperature for cultivation is +15-28°C during the day and +12-14°C at night. At excessively high temperatures, seedlings may stretch, so they should be hardened off a few days before transplanting.

Throughout the season, plants require regular and abundant watering, timely weeding, loosening, and top dressing with mineral fertilizers, especially nitrogen and potassium. The variety responds well to the application of micro-fertilizers containing magnesium and boron, which promotes improved growth and crop quality. Due to its characteristics, MARS MS is one of the best red cabbage varieties for long-term storage and use in fresh form.
