Colored cabbage Goodman — an early-maturing, high-yielding hybrid developed by the Dutch seed company Bejo Zaden. This variety features stable and vigorous growth, forming strong, round heads weighing from 1.2 to 1.5 kg with white or cream-colored heads depending on growing conditions. The vegetation period ranges from 70 to 80 days, allowing for cultivation both as seedlings and direct sowing in open ground during spring-summer and autumn seasons. The plant develops a vertical rosette of leaves that does not fully cover the head, so it is recommended to tie them in the second half of maturation to preserve its market appearance.
Goodman demonstrates high adaptability to various climatic conditions and regions, making it suitable for cultivation across different parts of Ukraine. The cabbage is resistant to several diseases, including fusarium and bacterial diseases, but requires preventive measures against black leg, viral mosaic, and soil pests. The plant possesses a robust leaf mass, which protects the heads and contributes to good harvest transportability.
This hybrid is valued for its excellent taste and versatility. Cabbage Goodman is suitable for fresh consumption, as well as for pickling, freezing, and preservation. Due to its resilience and ability to recover from stressful conditions such as drought or high temperatures, the variety ensures a stable and high-quality harvest when standard agronomic practices — including moderate watering, loosening, and fertilization — are followed.
