HOBBIT barley is a high-yielding winter barley hybrid developed using Hyvido™ technology. It features a medium-early maturity and high yield potential, reaching 100-110 c/ha, with average yields exceeding those of standard barley varieties by 10 c/ha. The plant has a well-developed root system of about 6.3 cm in length and a robust stem up to 88.6 cm tall, providing resistance to lodging and promoting the formation of 6-8 strong stems with large ears, each containing an average of 52 grains.
The HOBBIT hybrid exhibits high resistance to major pathogens, fungal infections, and viruses, significantly reducing cultivation risks. It is genetically adapted for safe winter survival and can withstand heat and drought, making it especially effective for cultivation in the Polissia and Steppe regions. The recommended seeding rate is 90-110 kg per hectare, and the variety is suitable for winter cultivation and can be grown in various climatic zones.
HOBBIT barley is widely used as feed grain in animal husbandry due to its high protein and carbohydrate content, essential for complete animal nutrition. It is also utilized in the food industry. To preserve grain quality, it is recommended to store the grain in dry and cool conditions, separately from other cereal crops, to prevent spoilage and nutrient loss.
