Arugula Nereid

Dutch breeding for professional growers

The Nereid arugula (indau) variety is the result of extensive breeding work by the Dutch company Rijk Zwaan Zaadteelt en Zaadhandel B.V. In 2026, the variety was officially added to the State Register of Plant Varieties suitable for cultivation in Ukraine, confirming its adaptability to local climatic conditions and adherence to high quality standards.

Origin and status

Developed through classical breeding methods, Nereid is a stable variety (population) rather than an F1 hybrid. This provides farmers and producers with consistent, predictable results. The variety owner, Rijk Zwaan, is renowned for its meticulous approach to genetic material, ensuring that Nereid serves as a reliable tool for professional vegetable production.

Market position

In the arugula segment, Nereid occupies a niche for varieties focused on the professional market. Its registration in 2026 opens new opportunities for producers aiming for crop standardization. Unlike generic seeds, this variety guarantees line purity and predictable vegetation periods, which is critical for continuous production cycles of leafy greens.
