Applying traditional trunk whitewashing with lime and copper sulfate is a proven method to protect the bark and discourage fungal colonization.

Preventive fungicide treatments, particularly those based on copper, can effectively reduce spore load and prevent the colonization of young, healthy branches.

Mechanical cleaning of the bark using soft brushes during the dormant season helps remove existing colonies, promoting bark regeneration and health.

Maintaining optimal nutritional and water status for the trees ensures they remain robust and resistant to any surface-dwelling fungal pathogens, ensuring long-term orchard success.
