Dacrydium is a genus of evergreen coniferous trees belonging to the family Podocarpaceae. These trees are known for their distinct needle-like foliage and often conical growth habit, which allows them to reach impressive heights in stable, humid environments within tropical and temperate zones.

The native distribution of Dacrydium includes regions across Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands, New Zealand, and Chile. These trees have evolved to flourish in environments with high rainfall and consistent humidity, making them highly sensitive to drought conditions and extreme climate variations.

Successful cultivation requires soil that is rich in organic matter, acidic in pH, and possesses excellent drainage properties.
