Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a perennial herb of the Zingiberaceae family, typically grown as an annual crop. Planting starts when soil temperatures consistently reach at least 15°C.

Propagation is achieved using healthy rhizome sections, known as seeds, each weighing 30–50 grams and containing at least one viable growth bud for sprouting.

Rhizomes are planted 5–10 cm deep in prepared soil, ensuring that the buds are facing upwards to facilitate rapid emergence and uniform crop establishment in the field.

Commercial plantations use row spacing of 40–60 cm, providing enough room for mechanical cultivation and ensuring optimal aeration between plants throughout the season.
