Biology and life cycle. Many species within this family exhibit parthenogenetic reproduction, meaning a single individual can establish a massive colony without a mate. They are nocturnal and burrowing organisms, often remaining hidden within the substrate during the day. Their biology allows them to adapt quickly to varying water chemistry and temperature, making them difficult to eradicate.
Nature of damage and harmfulness. Damage is caused by mechanical feeding on plant roots and stems.
