The life cycle involves an egg stage, followed by mobile nymph stages known as crawlers. These crawlers move to fresh plant tissue where they anchor and begin the secretion process that creates the characteristic dark lac buildup.
Males of the species are winged and significantly smaller than females, serving primarily to mate with the stationary females located on the host branches.

What it damages
