The Tajik cyst nematode (Heterodera tadshikistanica) belongs to the phylum Nematoda, order Tylenchida, and family Heteroderidae. It is a specialized plant parasite that depends entirely on the host plant's root system for survival.

Adult females of this species form cysts — protective, hardened coverings that are essentially the dead bodies of the females, filled with eggs and larvae. These cysts are lemon-shaped and can survive in the soil for several years.

Second-stage juveniles are the invasive form of the nematode. These microscopic, worm-like organisms are highly mobile and actively move through soil moisture to locate and penetrate the roots of host plants.

Males are vermiform and motile, essential for the fertilization of females. Once mated, the female body wall undergoes hardening to become a cyst, which changes color from white to brown as the eggs mature inside.

Accurate identification of this species in a laboratory requires microscopic analysis of the cyst's vulval cone and cuticle structure, as morphological differences are often subtle between related species.
