They thrive in damp soil rich in organic matter, making them common inhabitants of agricultural settings with poor drainage or excess moisture.

The biology of Cochlicopidae is strictly dependent on environmental moisture levels. As hermaphroditic organisms, they deposit eggs in soil crevices or under decaying plant debris. The life cycle comprises the egg stage, juvenile phase, and mature adult. Under favorable conditions, they can produce multiple generations per season, showing heightened activity during nocturnal hours or overcast, wet weather.

Damage patterns typically include irregular scraping of leaf tissues and jagged holes in foliage.
