Tomato Northern Express is a modern hybrid of domestic breeding, specially adapted for cultivation in northern regions and under protected ground. Plants are determinate or semi-determinate in growth, reaching a height of 1.2–1.5 meters, forming one or two stems with short internodes. To extend the vegetative period and fruiting, the apical growth point can be transferred to a continuation shoot, allowing flexible management of plant development. The hybrid's early maturity is expressed in a fruiting period of 100–110 days after germination, making it particularly valuable for spring turnover in greenhouses.
The fruits of Tomato Northern Express are flat-round, dense, smooth, and glossy, weighing 120–170 grams. They are characterized by uniformity, strong skin, and a pleasant flavor with a slight acidity and sweet notes. Bunches are compact, bearing 4–7 fruits, spaced between leaves. Thanks to their excellent keeping quality and transportability, the fruits are suitable for both fresh consumption and pickling or canning. The hybrid's yield in greenhouse conditions reaches 20–26 kg per square meter, indicating high productivity.
Northern Express exhibits high resistance to major tomato diseases, including tobacco mosaic virus, cladosporiosis, and fusarium wilt. Additionally, the hybrid tolerates low temperatures, insufficient light, and sharp temperature fluctuations, making it a reliable choice for cultivation under challenging climatic conditions. Recommended planting density is 3–4 plants per square meter, with pruning to one or two stems and removal of suckers for optimal growth and fruiting.
