Tomato Bijou is an early-maturing indeterminate cherry hybrid, suitable for light cultivation and extended cropping cycles. The plant has a vegetative growth type with good leafiness and high leaf quality. Flowers are simple, with clusters containing 15 to 18 fruits, exhibiting high fruit set. Fruits have a plum-like shape, are strong, and turn light yellow upon ripening, with an average fruit weight of about 15 grams. The hybrid is resistant to a range of diseases, including tomato mosaic virus, leaf curl virus, cladosporiosis, verticillium wilt, fusarium wilt, and nematodes.
This tomato is valued for its high productivity and excellent market qualities. Fruits have a neat shape and attractive coloration, with minimal seeds and maximum flesh content. The flesh is dense, fleshy, and moderately juicy, with a pleasant balanced flavor dominated by sweet notes with a slight acidity. Fruits do not crack and lack green spots at the stem end, ensuring good transportability and prolonged storage in the refrigerator. Early and prolonged fruiting allows harvesting up to 10 kg per plant over the season.
Tomato Bijou plants are semi-spreading, with strong, sturdy stems, moderate leafiness and branching, and shoot height not exceeding 60 cm. The hybrid is adapted to various climatic conditions, resistant to stress and temperature fluctuations, making it suitable for cultivation in different regions. Tomatoes are primarily used fresh, as well as for preservation, pickling, making juices, and sauce preparation, highlighting their versatility and high culinary value.
