Sunflower Mirniy

Stability and Ukrainian Breeding

The «Myrnyi» sunflower is a product of the Institute of Oilseed Crops of the NAAS, which has firmly established its position in the early-maturing hybrid market. Its introduction was a strategic response to the needs of farmers working in regions prone to moisture deficit or requiring a compressed harvesting schedule. It remains a reliable choice for producers who prioritize the predictability and local adaptability of Ukrainian genetics.

Biological Potential and Field Performance

The core advantage of «Myrnyi» lies in its early maturity: the vegetation period spans 90–100 days. This growth pattern enables efficient utilization of early-spring soil moisture and ensures the harvest is completed before the arrival of autumn rainfall. With a plant height of 120–130 cm, the hybrid demonstrates excellent resistance to lodging, which is critical for farms utilizing intensive cultivation technologies.

Phytosanitary Defense

The breeders focused heavily on the genetic protection of the crop. «Myrnyi» exhibits strong resistance to the most hazardous pathogens that threaten yields:

• Comprehensive tolerance to white and grey rot.
• Effective defense against downy mildew, reducing the necessity for excessive fungicide applications.
• High resistance to phomopsis and powdery mildew.

These traits turn the hybrid into a robust tool for minimizing agricultural production risks. With an oil content ranging between 45–50%, the sunflower delivers consistent market quality, which is highly valued both for domestic processing and for oilseed export markets.
