Agrotechnological Potential of LID1068L SU

The French breeding company Lidea France SAS has introduced a hybrid that officially entered the Ukrainian state register in 2026. LID1068L SU is an intensive sunflower hybrid that requires precise agronomic management to unlock its full genetic potential. Due to its early flowering period, the plant efficiently utilizes spring moisture, which is critical for regions prone to summer drought.

Sowing and Management Recommendations

• Timing and Density: Optimal sowing should occur when soil temperatures at seeding depth reach 8–10°C. Given the medium plant height and moderate foliage, the hybrid responds well to standard planting patterns that ensure uniform nutrient distribution.
• Soil Requirements: It performs best on fertile chernozems and chestnut soils with a neutral or slightly alkaline pH. Avoiding soil compaction is essential, as the moderate stem pubescence and medium-sized head require stable root nutrition.
• Phase-Specific Care: During the 2–4 true leaf stage, herbicide application (following SU technology) is recommended to eliminate weed competition during the critical head-formation phase. Early flowering necessitates pest control during the budding stage to protect the orange-yellow ray florets and ensure high-quality pollination.

The hybrid features a semi-pendulous head, which facilitates natural water runoff after rainfall, reducing the risk of rot. The absence of branching and uniform stem development allow for efficient mechanical harvesting with minimal losses.
