Overland F1 sweet corn is a late-maturing super-sweet hybrid developed by the Dutch seed company Syngenta Seeds. The vegetation period is approximately 83 days, allowing the hybrid to be successfully grown in various climatic conditions, including arid regions. The plants are robust, reaching heights of up to 2-2.2 meters, with large leaves and a well-developed root system, providing drought and stress resistance. The hybrid forms two large ears per plant, 20-22 cm long and 5-5.5 cm in diameter, with bright yellow, large, juicy, and glossy kernels arranged in dense, even rows.
Overland F1 is characterized by high sugar content (over 12%), giving the kernels a rich sweet flavor and tender texture. The ears retain their variety color and market appearance during harvest, storage, and thermal processing, making this hybrid ideal for fresh consumption, boiling, grilling, canning, and freezing. Due to its prolonged period in the milk stage, the corn is suitable for forming a harvest conveyor and ensures consistent product quality.
The hybrid exhibits high resistance to major corn diseases such as corn rust, mosaic virus, bacterial streaks, helminthosporiosis, and fusarium, reducing the need for chemical protection and promoting healthy, abundant yields. Overland F1 is easy to grow in open ground, adapts to various soil conditions, and does not require regular irrigation. The recommended planting density is 6-8 plants per square meter, with optimal sowing times in April and May, and harvest in July-September.
