Rootstock ROUTPAUER

Why commercial growers choose Rootpower

Using a rootstock is a strategic move for those working in fields with soil fatigue or aiming to minimize fungicide costs. The Japanese rootstock Rootpower from Sakata is designed to tackle critical challenges in cucurbit production: providing robust defense against soil-borne pathogens, specifically Fusarium wilt.

Practical application in the field and greenhouse

• Cucumbers: Grafting onto Rootpower significantly extends the harvest period, even in soils suffering from exhaustion. The rootstock develops a vigorous root system, enhancing water and nutrient uptake efficiency.
• Watermelons: The primary goal here is protection against Fusarium, which can devastate an entire plantation in just a few days. Rootpower acts as a biological shield, enabling consistent yields even on high-risk plots.
• Melons: Grafting onto this rootstock ensures uniform fruit sizing and simultaneous ripening, which is essential for meeting market quality standards.

Rootpower is the ideal choice for operations where crop rotation is limited and the risk of fungal infection remains high. The superior root architecture provides the scion with a 'safety margin,' allowing the crop to better withstand heat stress and temporary irrigation shortages. Implementing this rootstock is an effective way to safeguard your yield against soil-borne diseases while maintaining the high taste quality of your final harvest.
