Description LM 98
LM 98 is a mid-maturing variety of oil flax (Linum usitatissimum L.) intended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Volga-Vyatka, Central Black Earth, Middle Volga, and Eastern Siberia. Plants reach a height of 55-65 cm, with a long stem and attachment of lower branches at a height of about 35 cm. Petal color changes from blue-violet in the bud stage to light blue at full development, while seeds are yellow with a 1000-grain mass ranging from 5.0 to 6.2 g. Pods are of medium size with fringed false septum, and the oil is light.

The variety is characterized by high seed yield—an average of 16.3 centners per hectare, which exceeds standard indicators. Oil content in seeds ranges from 42.7% to 45.3%, with fat content in the oil reaching about 42.8%. In the oil composition, linoleic acid predominates (about 68-69.9%), and linolenic acid is present in the amount of 3.8-4.2%. LM 98 exhibits high resistance to lodging (5 points) and shattering (4.6 points), which contributes to crop preservation.

The variety demonstrates resistance to rust, fusarium wilt, and low susceptibility to anthracnose, confirmed by field trials. Due to these qualities and high technological characteristics, LM 98 is recommended for food purposes and is a reliable choice for cultivation in various climate zones, ensuring a stable and high-quality yield of oil flax.
