Flax Pehas / Pegasus

Pegas: A Balanced Approach to Flax Production

Developed by the National Scientific Center 'Institute of Agriculture of the NAAS', the 'Pegas' flax variety has established itself in the Ukrainian market as a highly versatile solution for fiber flax production. Unlike varieties strictly limited to textile yields, Pegas offers a dual-purpose potential, allowing farmers to monetize both the high-quality fiber and the oil-bearing seeds.

Resilience and Reliability

The primary agronomic strength of Pegas lies in its robust genetic resistance to Fusarium wilt. Given that Fusarium is one of the most significant limiting factors in flax cultivation, this trait provides a reliable safety net for agricultural producers, reducing the reliance on intensive fungicide applications while ensuring consistent output even in challenging field conditions.

Key Specifications

• Category: Fiber flax (flax-dolgunets).
• Dual-purpose utility: Fiber production and seed oil processing.
• Origin: Ukrainian selection by the National Scientific Center 'Institute of Agriculture of the NAAS'.
• Key Advantage: Superior resistance to Fusarium wilt.

Pegas is the preferred choice for producers seeking market flexibility. Its morphology ensures sufficient fiber yield, while the seeds maintain high oil content required for industrial processing. This duality makes it an economically viable option, helping farmers hedge against market volatility in the industrial raw materials sector.
