A vigorous hybrid corn GALAXY — 99 developed based on nanotechnology by the well-known American company DOW Chemical, Canadian holding SERTIS, commissioned by Internazional institute of Tropical Agriculture IITA Nigeria, as well as International center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas Syria, for countries in Northern and Southern Africa and Asia. It was introduced in Canada in 2010, underwent drought resistance trials in Canada, Egypt, Pakistan, Tunisia, India, Angola, where it showed excellent yields in 2011, and also underwent drought resistance trials in Russia in Krasnodar region, Rostov region, Kemerov region, Samara region, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan. The root system of corn is taproot with a well-developed main root that penetrates deeply into the soil, and is sufficiently cold-tolerant.
1) Exhibits enhanced drought resistance.
2) Characterized by resistance to abiotic stresses.
3) Has resistance to increased soil moisture content.
4) This hybrid has stable immunity to all corn diseases affecting conventional varieties and hybrids such as (ear rot, bacterial wilt, seed mold, blister smut, downy mildew, rust, northern helminthosporiosis, stalk rot, seedling fusarium, ear fusarium, corn dwarf mosaic virus, etc.) and is not affected by these diseases.
5) Corn plant height reaches up to 280 cm, with 6 ears per plant, ear weight up to 700 grams.
6) Resistant to soil salinity.
1000 seed weight — 350 grams.
The yield of the corn hybrid GALAXY — 99 is minimum 180 centners, maximum 200 centners per hectare. The seeding rate of the Canadian hybrid GALAXY — 99 per hectare is 20 kg, sown with precision planters or planters of our own production.
Seeding of the corn hybrid GALAXY — 99 begins on May 20 and continues up to and including June 30.
The vegetation period of corn GALAXY — 99 from sowing to harvest is 150 days.
