Medana

Medana is a non-narcotic medicinal hemp variety developed by the Glukhov Institute of Hemp Cultures, characterized by high content of non-psychotropic cannabidiol and cannabigerol with very low levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (less than 0.06-0.08%). Due to these properties, the Medana variety is intended for therapeutic use, providing anti-inflammatory effects and potential application in treating various neurological diseases and conditions, including COVID-19. At the same time, the plants maintain stable non-narcotic properties and high adaptability to various soil-climate conditions, making them universal and reliable for cultivation.

In addition to medical applications, the Medana variety is versatile, as it is used for obtaining fiber, seeds, and stalks. The seeds have high oil content, reaching 30%, allowing the production of valuable oil for food purposes. The fiber and stalks of this variety are suitable for producing high-density textiles, paper, and can also be used in constructing hemp houses. Moreover, hemp Medana and other varieties from the institute contribute to the development of eco-friendly technologies, such as producing pellets and briquettes for power stations and households, helping to reduce deforestation and replacing plastic bags with natural materials.

The Medana variety is included in the register of hemp varieties recommended for cultivation in Ukraine and constitutes more than 70% of industrial hemp sown areas cultivated by the Institute of Hemp Cultures. This confirms its significance and demand in the country's agricultural sector. High productivity, stability, and multifunctionality make Medana a promising variety for medical, industrial, and ecological sectors.
