«Rafal» is a high-performance soil-applied herbicide utilizing Clomazone as its active ingredient. This compound functions as a potent inhibitor of carotenoid biosynthesis, which is essential for protecting chlorophyll from photo-oxidation. Weeds germinating through the herbicide-treated soil layer lose pigmentation, become bleached, and perish before emergence.

This systemic, selective herbicide is specifically formulated for winter rapeseed crops. Its primary utility lies in its ability to manage a wide spectrum of broad-leaved weeds that typically compete with the crop during the critical early growth stages.

Control Spectrum and Application Rates

The Emulsifiable Concentrate (EC) formulation ensures a uniform distribution of the active substance within the soil horizon upon application. «Rafal» effectively suppresses the development of several persistent weed species, including:

• Common lambsquarters (Chenopodium album) and Common chickweed;
• Cleavers (Galium aparine);
• Shepherd's purse;
• Purple dead-nettle;
• Field pansy.

The recommended application rate is 0.15–0.2 L/ha. Given the high biological activity of the compound, a single pre-emergence application is sufficient to maintain field cleanliness during the sensitive period of rapeseed root system establishment.

Technological Recommendations

As a soil-applied herbicide, «Rafal» requires a well-prepared seedbed: the soil should be finely textured and have sufficient moisture levels. Soil moisture is vital for activating Clomazone and establishing a robust «protective screen.» The protocol limits application to a single treatment per season, necessitating strict adherence to timing. The product is classified as Hazard Class 3, requiring standard safety precautions and personal protective equipment during handling.
