Description

Systemic weed control in corn crops

The efficiency of corn protection depends on the herbicide's ability to block the weed's metabolism immediately. Miladar, SC (nicosulfuron, 45 g/l), produced by the Ukrainian 'Fabryka Ahrokhimikativ' in Cherkasy, is a specialized tool for controlling a wide range of grassy and broadleaf weeds, minimizing competition for moisture and nutrients during early vegetation.

Mechanism of action and selectivity

The product relies on the systemic action of nicosulfuron. Upon application to the leaf surface, the active ingredient moves rapidly to the growth points, blocking the enzyme acetolactate synthase. This causes an immediate halt to cell division. Why is this critical? The growth of weeds stops within hours after application, preventing any further negative impact on the crop. Miladar acts as a selective herbicide: corn plants can metabolize nicosulfuron into safe compounds, making it highly effective for the crop while remaining toxic to competitive weeds.

Technical application details

  • Spectrum of activity: Highly effective against creeping bentgrass, common ragweed, redroot pigweed, field mustard, wild radish, purslane, chickweed, and scentless chamomile.
  • Formulation: Suspension concentrate ensures excellent stability of the spray solution and high penetration speed through the leaf cuticle layer.
  • Application requirements: A single application at a rate of 1–1.25 l/ha is sufficient. Thanks to its systemic properties, the product works efficiently even under variable humidity conditions by moving through the plant tissue upon contact.

Using Miladar allows agronomists to control the "critical window" of competition when weeds are most dangerous. Classified as a Hazard Class 3 product, it is predictable and reliable in the field, provided that standard safety measures for tank mixing and spraying are followed.
