Bayer's «Maister Power» represents a high-tech approach to crop protection. Its formulation as an oil dispersion (OD) is engineered for optimal absorption through the leaf cuticle of corn plants. Unlike standard concentrates, this oil-based carrier ensures superior rainfastness and significantly enhances the systemic penetration of active ingredients into weed tissues.

Four-Way Synergy

The efficacy of Bayer’s solution lies in the strategic combination of four active agents, each optimized for a specific biological target:

• Foramsulfuron and Iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium: Potent sulfonylureas that inhibit the acetolactate synthase (ALS) enzyme, effectively halting cell division in sensitive weeds.
• Thiencarbazone-methyl: Provides both rapid knockdown and residual soil activity, offering a protective buffer against subsequent flushes of grass and broadleaf weeds.
• Cyprosulfamide: A cutting-edge safener. This is the crucial safety mechanism that allows the corn crop to metabolize the herbicide rapidly, protecting the yield from phytotoxicity even under stressful environmental conditions.

Field Application and Performance

Designed as a systemic post-emergence herbicide, Maister Power is engineered to eliminate tough perennial rhizomatous and root-suckering weeds, such as Canada thistle, couch grass, and knotweed—weeds that standard selective herbicides often fail to control. At an application rate of 1.25–1.5 L/ha, it provides exceptional control of annual grasses (like green foxtail) and broadleaf species (like common lambsquarters). A single application per season is sufficient, reducing crop stress and optimizing operational efficiency.
