Effective Crop Protection: My Experience with «Khlibodar»

When managing winter wheat or barley, keeping fields clean during the tillering phase is essential for a good harvest. In this season, while using «Khlibodar» from the Chinese manufacturer «Zhenjiang Agrin Company Ltd.», we focused on controlling stubborn broadleaf weeds. The Metsulfuron-methyl active ingredient works systemically: the herbicide is absorbed by the foliage and stops weed growth rapidly.

Usage and Operational Tips

From an operator's perspective, I have highlighted several key points regarding this systemic herbicide:

• Flexibility in application: «Khlibodar» is a post-emergence herbicide. We applied it to the leaves when weeds were in their early growth stages. This allowed us to suppress ragweed, thistle, field mustard, and shepherd's purse effectively without harming the crops.
• Dosage and Efficacy: We used the recommended 0.4–0.6 L/ha rate. As a selective herbicide, it does not stunt the growth of cereals if used correctly. Only one application per season was needed to control weed pressure until harvest time.
• Ease of Handling: The suspension emulsion formula is very user-friendly. It dissolves easily in the spray tank, does not clog nozzles, and provides even coverage across the leaf surface.

My advice for using «Khlibodar» is simple: do not wait for weeds like Canada thistle to overgrow. The Metsulfuron-methyl mechanism is most effective when weeds are actively growing. For an agronomist, this is a practical tool: minimal downtime (just one pass) and a clear result in the form of a weed-free field, allowing grain crops to thrive without competing for nutrients and moisture.
