Description Basta
The activity of the active ingredient in Basta® — ammonium glyphosate — is based on the inhibition of the enzyme glutamine synthetase. This leads to numerous metabolic disorders in plants, particularly to:
rapid suppression of the photosynthesis process (within 2-8 hours);
disruption of membrane functions due to accumulation of free ammonia;
reduction of protein biosynthesis due to lack of organic nitrogen sources.
As a result, in plants treated with Basta®, free ammonia accumulates rapidly to toxic levels, providing Basta® with what is known as the "burning" effect: rapid browning of green plant parts. In addition, the cessation of glutamine acid formation leads to a slower but longer-lasting effect.

The toxicity of ammonia, glutamine depletion, and rapid suppression of photosynthesis ensure the rapid and highly effective action of Basta® as a desiccant and non-selective herbicide.

APPLICATION

As a desiccant, Basta® 150 can be used on many crops, particularly sunflower, legumes (pea, soybean, alfalfa), winter and spring rapeseed, cereal crops, at a rate of: 1.0-2.5 L/ha.

The preparation is intended for desiccating crops prior to harvest, i.e., to reduce plant moisture to simultaneously accelerate and equalize the ripening process, improve quality (germination rate, growth vigor, 1000-grain weight, seed quality), increase yield, reduce seed losses, ease and lower the cost of harvest.

Sunflower
Spraying at the full maturity stage with seed moisture of 33-37%. Application rate: 2.0 L/ha.

Soybean
Spraying at the beginning of browning of lower and middle pod stages. Application rate: 2.0 L/ha.

Spring wheat
Spraying at the beginning of wax ripeness stage. Application rate: 2.0 L/ha.

Alfalfa
Spraying when 80-85% of pods have browned. Application rate: 1.0-1.5 L/ha.

Winter and spring rapeseed
Spraying at the beginning of crop ripening. Application rate: 2.0-2.5 L/ha.

Complete desiccation of crops occurs within 10-14 days after application, depending on weather conditions.

Rainfall affects the efficacy of Basta® within the first 6 hours after application. Rain intensity has a greater impact than the time interval between Basta® application and rainfall.

As a herbicide, Basta® is used in gardens, vineyards, and berry crops, especially on young plantings and in trellised cultivation, where its contact action eliminates the risk of damaging crops unlike glyphosate, whose systemic action may even cause crop death.

Gardens, vineyards, berry crops
Application rate: 2.5-3.0 L/ha. When applied against weeds in early growth stages, the application rate can be reduced, but then a repeat application is required upon emergence of new weeds.

ADVANTAGES

Gentle desiccation that accelerates nutrient uptake into fruits and seeds, improving harvest quality (seed fill, increased germination energy, etc.)…
Essential for seed production fields.
Wide range of applications as a desiccant and non-selective herbicide.
Contact action, eliminating residue in the product.
Safety for parent plants when applied for shoot control in vineyards and berry crops.
Safety for young shoots and aerial roots in young orchards and vineyards.
Presence of a wetting agent in the formulation.
Safety for users and the environment.
