Mechanism of Action and Pharmacology of Prochloraz

The core of "Mirage EC" is the active component from the imidazole group — prochloraz. Unlike many triazoles that inhibit ergosterol biosynthesis at later stages, prochloraz inhibits demethylation at an earlier stage. For an agronomist, this translates into a pronounced curative and eradicating effect. The preparation penetrates deep into plant tissues, blocking pathogen mycelium development even after the first visual signs of infection have appeared.

Technological Advantages of the Emulsifiable Concentrate

The formulation (EC) was chosen for a reason. A high concentration of active ingredients in an oily emulsion ensures instant adhesion to the leaf surface. When applied to wheat and barley, "Mirage EC" forms a durable film that resists rainfall and slowly releases active molecules into the cuticle. This is critical for controlling pathogens localized in hard-to-reach areas, such as during Fusarium head blight.

Control Spectrum and Application Guidelines

The systemic nature of the preparation allows for effective suppression of a wide range of diseases:

• Leaf apparatus: Net blotch of barley, rhynchosporium, septoria, spot blotch.
• Stem and ear: Cercosporella foot rot, powdery mildew, Fusarium head blight.

The recommended application rate is 1–1.5 L/ha. An important technological aspect is the limitation of two treatments per season. The pre-harvest interval is 30 days, allowing "Mirage EC" to be integrated into intensive cereal protection schemes both for prophylaxis and for stopping epiphytotics during the final stages of vegetation.
