The hybrid sweet corn GSS5649 is a medium-early super-sweet type SH2 variety with a maturation period of about 78 days and heat units of 890 at a base of 10°C. The plant reaches a height of up to 2.3 meters, is robust, and well-adapted to intensive agronomy. The cobs are cylindrical, approximately 21 cm long and 5.5–5.6 cm in diameter, with 16–18 rows of medium-depth kernels (13–14 mm). The kernels are yellow, medium-sized, densely arranged in even rows, ensuring excellent appearance and high marketability. Hybrid GSS5649 has a high yield potential, averaging 1.5 cobs per plant regardless of weather conditions. The kernels exhibit pronounced sweetness, juiciness, and a delicate aroma, providing an outstanding tender taste. After harvest, the cobs do not wrinkle and retain their flavor, making them suitable for both fresh marketing and culinary processing. Additionally, the variety features good transportability and long-term storage capability. Special attention has been given to disease resistance: the hybrid shows moderate resistance to bacterial blight and helminthosporium (northern and southern), as well as high resistance to rust and maize mosaic virus.
