Cucumber Justina F1

Consistent yields in challenging field conditions

Working with the 'Justina F1' hybrid from Nunhems, you quickly realize that Dutch breeding standards translate directly into performance. This is a classic generative-type plant; it doesn't waste energy on excessive vegetative growth, focusing instead on heavy, consistent fruit set.

Field performance and agronomic handling

For open field production, this hybrid is a workhorse. Being parthenocarpic, it eliminates the dependency on bees or pollinators, which is a lifesaver during unpredictable spring weather. By sticking to the recommended planting density of 35,000–40,000 plants per hectare, you ensure the right balance of plant health and fruit yield.

The fruits themselves set the standard for marketability: they feature a crisp, dark green, heavily warted appearance. With a length-to-diameter ratio of 3.1:1.0, these cucumbers are perfect for both fresh market sales and pickling—they stay firm, resist hollow centers, and handle transport better than many competitors.

Disease resistance: The key to profitability

Fusarium wilt and Cladosporium, which often devastate weaker varieties, are rarely an issue here. Its resistance to Tomato Mosaic Virus significantly cuts down on unnecessary fungicide applications, effectively lowering your input costs. 'Justina F1' is a forgiving and resilient choice that maintains high yields even when environmental conditions are less than perfect.
