Cucumber Rapides F1

The Benchmark for Professional Greenhouse Cucumber Production

The «Rapides F1» hybrid by the Dutch breeding company De Ruiter Seeds has firmly established itself as one of the most reliable solutions for protected cultivation. Developed by the experts at Monsanto/Bayer, this parthenocarpic cucumber was specifically engineered to meet the demands of large-scale greenhouse complexes requiring consistent yields of high-quality produce.

Technical Specifications and Yield Potential

In the long-fruited, smooth-skinned cucumber segment, «Rapides F1» stands out for its unique blend of plant vigor and intensive production capacity. Key highlights of the variety include:

• Fruit characteristics: Dark green, smooth fruits ranging from 20 to 25 cm in length, known for their excellent shelf life and transportability.
• Pollination type: Parthenocarpic, eliminating the need for pollinators and simplifying crop management.
• Disease resistance: Robust genetic resistance to powdery mildew and Cucumber Mosaic Virus (CMV) significantly reduces the dependency on chemical sprays, helping growers meet stringent phytosanitary standards.

The hybrid's reputation is built on its ability to maintain high performance under the challenging lighting and climate conditions typical of glass greenhouses. De Ruiter's breeding philosophy focuses on maximizing the return on investment; when managed with proper agronomic care, the plants produce uniform, dense, and premium-quality fruits that resist overgrowth, ensuring high marketability for retail chains.

Market Position

Today, «Rapides F1» remains a preferred choice for growers operating at an industrial scale. It is valued for its predictability: farmers are guaranteed a uniform, vibrant, and high-quality harvest. In a modern market where visual appeal is paramount, utilizing proven genetic material from De Ruiter Seeds serves as a foundation for business stability and long-term profitability.
