Platina F1

Platina F1 is a mid-early, parthenocarpic hybrid of the cornichon type, developed by the Dutch breeding company Nunhems Zaden. The vegetative period of this variety ranges from 38 to 48 days, allowing for harvest within relatively short timeframes. The plant exhibits medium growth vigor and a balanced vegetative-generative type, which contributes to high yield. The parthenocarpic nature of the hybrid eliminates the need for bee pollination, simplifying cultivation.

The fruits of Platina cucumber are cylindrical with large bumps and dark green skin. Fruit length varies from 6 to 10 cm, and the flesh has a dense structure, firm texture, and small seed cavity. Thanks to these qualities, the cucumbers retain their vibrant green color and attractive appearance even after pickling and canning. The flesh is succulent and has a pleasant flavor with a rich aroma, making them ideal for fresh consumption.

The Platina hybrid adapts well to various growing conditions, including open ground and greenhouse complexes. It is recommended to grow the plants on trellises or in rows, ensuring sufficient light and protection from wind. The variety is resistant to water deficiency and shows high tolerance to cucumber mosaic, powdery mildew, and moderate resistance to downy mildew. For optimal growth, fertile soil with neutral pH is preferred, although the hybrid can thrive on heavy soils. Platina cucumber is suitable for fresh consumption as well as for pickling and canning without losing its qualities.
