Cucumber Aquarius

Reliable Open-Field Production

When working with the "Vodoley" cucumber variety from VNIISSOK, the key takeaway is predictability. Being a bee-pollinated variety, it thrives in open-field conditions rather than greenhouses. Harvest typically begins around 45–50 days after germination, which is quite competitive for an outdoor variety.

Operational Performance and Field Care

The fruits have a classic, light-green appearance and grow to about 10–12 cm. Their large, warty texture makes them excellent for pickling, as they retain a satisfying crunch. The biggest advantage for any grower is the variety's robust field resistance. In years with high disease pressure, "Vodoley" stands its ground against a complex of leaf spots and powdery mildew.

• Plant Health: The inherent resistance to downy mildew (peronosporosis) and olive spot significantly reduces the need for frequent fungicide applications.
• Water Management: The variety responds well to consistent irrigation. Since drought stress can affect fruit shape, drip irrigation is highly recommended to maintain yield consistency.
• Pollination: As a bee-pollinated variety, ensure your planting site is accessible to pollinators; otherwise, you may notice incomplete fruit development.

If you are looking for an undemanding variety that forgives minor management mistakes and produces a high-quality crop, this VNIISSOK hybrid is a reliable workhorse. Whether you are battling angular leaf spot or brown spot, this variety offers the stability needed to ensure a successful harvest throughout the season.
