Cucumber CHERNOMOR

Reliable Open-Field Performance

The 'Chernomor' cucumber from Agrofirma Poisk is a product of joint breeding efforts between Russian experts and the Pridnestrovian Research Institute of Agriculture. This hybrid has secured its position in the open-field market by offering robust resistance to the environmental stresses and diseases that typically plague cucumber crops.

Agronomic Characteristics

Chernomor is a parthenocarpic hybrid with a generative growth habit. This means the plant focuses its energy primarily on fruit production, leading to a steady harvest starting just 50–55 days after germination. The dark green fruits, ranging from 7 to 10 cm in length, are highly valued for their uniform shape and excellent shelf life.

Disease Resistance

One of the primary challenges in outdoor cultivation is maintaining plant health against pathogens. Chernomor stands out due to its high level of resistance to downy mildew (peronosporosis) and bacteriosis, significantly reducing the need for intensive fungicide applications. This makes it an ideal choice for growers looking for both productivity and sustainability.

• Pollination: Parthenocarpic (no pollinators needed).
• Maturity: 50-55 days.
• Cultivation: Open ground.
• Fruit Size: 7–10 cm, dark green color.

By choosing this hybrid from Agrofirma Poisk, growers get a proven genetic variety that delivers consistent yields even in demanding open-field conditions.
