Corn is one of the key agricultural crops in Ukraine, traditionally holding leading positions in production in Europe. Despite the reduction in sowing areas in 2022 and 2023 due to military and economic challenges such as high drying costs, increased logistics expenses, and unfavorable weather conditions, the crop remains vital for the country's agricultural sector. In response to these challenges, Corteva Agriscience has updated and simplified its corn hybrid portfolio, offering farmers modern solutions for efficient and profitable cultivation.
New hybrids with various maturity groups, predominantly early and mid-early, have been added to the Pioneer® corn portfolio in Ukraine, allowing for harvesting grain at an optimal moisture level of around 14%, reducing drying costs. Among them are hybrids with FAO ratings from 240 to 530, including R8754, R8556, R8904, R9042, R9590, R9985, and R0710. Special attention is given to hybrids capable of meeting even the most demanding producers' requirements, especially under irrigation, ensuring high yields and resilience to adverse conditions.
Additionally, the corn hybrid Hotin from Rost Agro is a mid-early modified hybrid with FAO 280, characterized by high yield, drought and cold tolerance, as well as good lodging resistance. This hybrid is recommended for cultivation across various climatic zones of Ukraine, including Polesie, Forest Steppe, and Steppe, and is known for its stable yield and high profitability. Seed protection is provided by the fungicides Maxim HL and VIBRANS, ensuring the quality and safety of planting material.
