Marconi cabbage — a late-maturing hybrid of white cabbage, developed by specialists of Syngenta Seeds and produced in Switzerland. The vegetation period ranges from 125 to 140 days, depending on growing conditions and planting density. The cabbage head is round, smooth, light green, with excellent taste qualities and high nutritional value. Average head weight varies from 2 to 4 kg, though with denser planting, weight may be lower — around 1.5–2.5 kg. The cabbage exhibits strong growth vigor and adaptability to various soil types and agronomic conditions. Marconi is characterized by high stress resistance and genetic immunity, providing resistance to diseases such as fusarium and tolerance to thrips. The hybrid tolerates transportation and long-term storage well — upper leaves do not dry out or flake, and weight loss during storage is minimal. Storage duration can reach up to 8 months, making this variety suitable for long-term storage and use fresh or for processing, including pickling. Marconi cabbage can be grown either by seedlings or direct sowing into open ground. Recommended sowing rate is approximately 30–45 thousand plants per hectare, which affects head size and weight. Harvesting can be done mechanically, simplifying the collection process and increasing production efficiency. Due to its qualities and versatility, Marconi cabbage is suitable for fresh consumption, processing, and long-term storage.
