Generics in crop protection used where yield risks are lower on Volyn farm
At the Lyshche agricultural enterprise located in Ukraine's Volyn region, a balanced strategy for applying crop protection products has been established. According to Chief Agronomist Vasyl Ferents, approximately 80% of all plant protection products used on the farm are original formulations from leading global manufacturers, ensuring maximum reliability and crop safety.
At the same time, the share of generic plant protection products stands at roughly 20%. The chief agronomist notes that these generic alternatives are utilized primarily in fields and situations where potential risks to the harvest are comparatively lower.
In addition to standard operational practices, the farm constantly tests agricultural novelties and advanced technological solutions. Agronomists closely study the experience of industry peers who are already phasing out active ingredients and products that have been banned within the European Union.
Vasyl Ferents points out that while there is roughly a year and a half remaining to prepare for the full implementation of European legislation regarding plant protection product usage, the farm plans to partially abandon certain preparations starting as early as next year.
According to preliminary expectations from the Lyshche enterprise, these upcoming restrictions and phase-outs will most significantly impact the category of insecticides. The farm continues proactively adjusting its agronomic practices to meet evolving standards.
