Agricultural Machinery Subsidies in Moldova to Change by 2026, Offering Farmers More Freedom of Choice

The policy supporting investments in agricultural machinery is entering a new phase. While the 2023–2026 period tied subsidies to pre-established mechanisms and strict equipment categories, the new Strategic Agricultural Policy Program for 2026–2030 places its main emphasis on investment projects and the concrete needs of individual farms. This information was presented by AIPA during the "2026 U.S. Agro Tech Road Show to Moldova & Romania", organized by AmCham at the MOLDAGROTECH 2026 exhibition.

The data presented also reflects the scale of support provided in recent years for purchasing agricultural machinery. In 2024, 958 beneficiaries received approximately 184 million lei, enabling the acquisition of 2,778 units of agricultural equipment. In 2025, there were 467 beneficiaries, with payouts totaling about 100.9 million lei and covering the purchase of 669 equipment units.

According to statistics provided by AIPA for 2026, state support reached 790 beneficiaries, with approximately 166 million lei paid out and 1,195 units of agricultural machinery purchased. The upcoming regulatory framework aims to give agricultural producers greater flexibility in choosing the exact equipment necessary for their operations.

Furthermore, AIPA's statistics detail which machinery types were most frequently subsidized in 2024 and 2025. Seed drills took first place, with 130 units subsidized in 2024 and 249 units in 2025.

Tractors followed closely behind, accounting for 125 units in 2024 and 241 units in 2025. Additionally, demand for tillage equipment grew, as the number of subsidized harrows increased from 86 to 154 units, and cultivators rose from 67 to 9.
