Pork Price Forecast in Ukraine: Why Growth is Expected in October-November 2026
Ukraine is expecting a new stage of pork price increases: as early as late October and early November 2026, the cost of live-weight pigs may rise to 72–73 UAH per kilogram. This represents an increase of approximately 6% compared to current figures. Industry specialists note that over the recent period, the average price of meat products has increased by 4 UAH per kilogram. This trend is attributed to several market factors, with supply and demand balance being the primary one.
However, the market situation remains uneven across different regions due to geographical differences and epizootic safety issues. The dynamics of pork prices in Ukraine are inconsistent. In regions where cases of African swine fever (ASF) are recorded, a different trend is observed: due to forced culling of animals and introduced restrictions on their movement, affected areas face an oversupply of meat.
This leads to a local drop in prices, but at the national level, processors are forced to increase purchase prices due to a shortage of quality raw materials. Pork prices demonstrate volatility, forcing farmers to plan sales more carefully. For agricultural enterprises that adhere to high biosecurity standards, the current situation presents a chance to secure better margins.
At the same time, for consumers, this means the inevitable reflection of live-weight costs in supermarket price tags. Experts emphasize that market stabilization will depend on the effectiveness of combating ASF and the volume of imported products, which can partially offset the deficit. Therefore, in the coming week, the meat sector may face new challenges.
Producers are advised to take regional risks into account, while consumers should be prepared for a gradual increase in pork prices in retail chains. Future market developments will closely depend on how quickly disease outbreaks can be contained and a stable supply of raw materials for processing plants can be maintained.
