Review of Major Agricultural Crop Prices in Constanța: Market Trends

The DAP Constanța market in Romania saw a continuation of price corrections for major cereal crops, driven by the overall downward trend on international trading floors. Bread-making wheat, feed wheat, and feed barley came under pressure, with their values dropping by 2 euros per ton. At the same time, quotations for corn, sunflower, and rapeseed remained unchanged.

According to current market monitoring data, the price of bread-making wheat fell to 238 euros per ton, feed wheat dropped to 222 euros per ton, and feed barley decreased to 209 euros per ton. Corn is currently trading at 227 euros per ton, which is 5 euros higher than feed wheat and 18 euros higher than barley. Sunflower maintains its price at 474 euros per ton, while rapeseed holds firm at 516 euros per ton.

This downward movement in the Romanian market directly mirrors the falling quotations on the European Euronext exchange and the US markets. Specifically, wheat prices on MATIF lost more than 5 euros on the December contract after quotations in Chicago hit new two-month lows. Additional pressure on the market came from news of a new round of diplomatic negotiations, which raised expectations of easing tensions and potentially resuming Black Sea shipments.

Influenced by the wheat market, corn prices also trended downward. The November contract on Euronext continued its decline, while the March contract dropped below 270 euros per ton. In Chicago, corn fell by 0.6% to 4.5925 dollars per bushel, marking the lowest level since mid-August.

In the oilseed sector, the February rapeseed contract on MATIF fell below 540 euros per ton following the weakening of the soybean market in the United States. Soybean quotations in Chicago also declined, setting a bearish tone for the broader global oilseed complex.
